I took a shot at the moon and landed- but need help getting there!
I'm Samy, a New York native and I love to draw.
Since middle school, I have been in classes, groups, clubs and everything possible until I had guidence to study Art in high school. Since then, I have focused my skills and knowledge on Traditional Animation.
I have studied at the School of Visual Arts for traditional animation. I received a scholarship to attend and attended for three years.
In 2013, I had attended my Fall 2013 Junior year but everything took a huge turn. In June of 2014, my mother passed away. Since then I have been on a HUGE rut and just working 40+ hours a week to do my part at home. I give thanks for the time I had with her.
Come 2015, I have decided to change that. I am working to go back to finish my last and final year at SVA in 2015-2016. I am working to pay bills and expenses at home with my father. I am working in getting back to drawing as much as I used to. But this was the push I needed to remind me of the goals I set for myself.
Here's the deal. I applied to the Gobelins Summer School Course 2015 to receive feedback/advice/help on my work. Never did I imagine to be accepted. It was a wonderful e-mail to wake up to, it was the best news I could have ever imagined. But, the cost is something as sudden as the news.
The total goal fund covers all that is offered in the Summer course. Accomedations, breakfast/lunch, classes and train/transportation expenses for a total of 2900 euros (approx. $3240). I have commissioned, sold stickers and worked to cover the plane ticket there.
I have concentrated my skill into traditional animation because it is the art I love. It is the art I don't mind putting time and work into. It is the art I feel at home with dream to pursue in my future career.
I am truly grateful for any amount donated - your contribution; no matter how big or small, will allow me to kickstart back my pursue in animation. Your donation will get me closer to my dream position in the Animation industry. Your donation will allow me to meet other students and professionals within the field who are as passionate about this art as I am.
