S.O.S. Save Our Sign
If you have ever driven North on I-75, just past exit 93, the Dixie highway off ramp in Clarkston Michigan , you have probably seen this classic picture of Jesus. This sign of Jesus has been standing at Dixie Baptist Church for over 40 years, lovingly greeting those passing by. Over the years this sign has been slowly fading away and needs restoration .
Present Day
Whether you are a member of the Church of not, I think we can all agree that this remarkable sign is a powerful, meaningful, and unforgettable landmark in Michigan.
A note from our Pastor:
"The public impact this landmark has had on scores of people the world over cannot be fully estimated. Hence, the public promotion. The Oakland Press a few years ago called it "The King of Signs." How appropriate for the King of Kings. The unique and individual stories, testimonies, news articles etc. I have heard over the last 40 years are a witness to how the Lord has used our one-of-a-kind sign to touch hearts and lives.
What a privilege we have to continue this message to a world who desperately needs to find the right road.

I wanted to get this campaign started sooner rather that later so the 60k estimate comes from the history of the sign's upkeep as well as inital quotes.
In 1970 it cost $11,000 to put up the sign, in 1991 it cost $28,000 for a renovation, and using an inflation calculator with these costs and years they were made, 60k is right around the same cost in 2015 as it was in 1970 and 1991.
One company said it could cost upwards of $100,000 depending on what we wanted to do with it. Yikes!
We would like to renew the portrait of Jesus, update the "are you on the right road" and the Dixie Baptist Church "mini"signs as well as address any lighting and structual issues there may be.
As more quotes come in we will be able to adjust the fund goal if needed.
60k is about the cost of a new luxury car or a new super duty truck, but think about this, this sign can travel faster, further, carry more weight, and do more good by spreading the word of Jesus than any car or truck ever could.
This sign is not just a advertisement or a public landmark. This sign is a tool to help spread the word of Christ.
Any funds raised, $1 to $100,000 will go towards the restoration of the sign.
