I'm a chemistry teacher in Illinois that has created animated PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, and labs that I share freely with other chemistry teachers around the world via my website at www.teachnlearnchem.com. I pay for the domain name and hosting costs out of my own pocket. I've also made the resources available free to teachers on a CD that is mailed from Illinois State University. Chemistry teachers love this site, http://www.teachnlearnchem.com/testimonials.htm.
The cost for me to host is ~$150/year. I am requesting funding for three years. If I receive additional funding I will use the money to mail out additional chemistry instructional CD's to teachers around the country and world. The cost to mail each CD is ~$4. The university is indicating they may not be able to fund this program much longer (http://cemast.illinoisstate.edu/educators/) due to budget cuts in our state.
I want to create flipped lessons (video lessons) to place on my site. I currently have no space remaining to add additional content to my website.
In the past, I've given presentations at local, regional, state, and national meetings to share the resources I have created. I want to keep the site free for teachers.
Please consider helping me keep this wonderful resource available to teachers. It really helps new chemistry teachers, home schooling parents, and teachers looking for materials they can quickly modify to make their own. All files are editable and the Instructional CD has all problems worked out showing work in equation editor.
The site has been around more than 10 years. I hope to keep it viable, fresh, and useful for another 10 years.
