Jason 's Journey To Recovery

Donation protected
Jason Chamakese is a well known traditional flutist and motivational speaker from the Pelican Lake First Nation,  On Tuesday, May 19th 2015.  Jason performed a show at the Roxy Theater in Saskatoon.

After the performance Jason headed home to rest, during the night  and into the early morning he became physically ill , collapsing twice unable to walk.  He complained about headaches, and was in obvious medical distress.

He was admitted to the Royal University Hopital,  where he was placed under close observation.  On May 20th, 2015 at 2:00 am Jason suffered a stroke and was immediately taken to ICU where he was placed in an induced coma to reduce swelling to his brain.

Jason suffered slight brain damage which  will affect his reflexes and fine motor skills.  Jason is responsive but still unable to speak.  His family is very optimistic but also preparing for a long road to recovery.

Jason is also the live-in caregiver to his two loving parents Issac and Maggie Chamakese, who he often credits with his musical gift.  They have not left his side since he was admitted to ICU and will continue to be there throughout his journey. The family is humbly reaching out to his many friends, and supporters who have made such an enormous impact on his life to help his parents stay by his side, during this time.

Jason would always come back home and would share many stories about his travels and experiences, but more importantly he would often speak about the wonderful hospitality he recieved in each community that he had visited,

Jason has such high respect for the elders and  a sincere love and concern for our children and youth.  It was this connection he made through his humor, music, and storytelling which motivated him to do what he truly loves.

We can only hope  and pray that he will back doing what he does best in the near future and any prayers, help and support would be greatly appreciated.
