Support baby Atticus and his family

Atticus Jamin Feist was born November 25, 2014, to Jamin Feist and Tamara Hagel . Jamin and Tamara were so unbelievable happy and over the moon to have been blessed with this little boy, their first born child, and planning a wedding for Sept 2015 this year was going to be their best year yet. Only a few months later they were given the most heartbreaking news that not any parent, especially first time parents, should ever have to hear. Atticus was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 the most severe type of this disease to which there is no cure. SMA is a muscular development disease, making muscles extremely weak. This affects every muscle system a person has, and it has recently affected his muscle system for sucking, swallowing and digesting food. Yesterday Atticus was given a feeding tube to ensure that he receives the proper nutrients he needs to keep his strength up and to ensure that he does not develop pneumonia from food getting into his lungs, just a common cold could be fatal for Atty.

Atticus is under wonderful care by the best neurologist in the Country at BC Childrens Hospital in Vancouver., whom has accepted him into a study in which they are testing a new drug to hopefully cure this dreadful disease or to slow the process to which it affects the muscles. This gives his family some hope! we are so blessed that he has been accepted into this study by the top neurologist. He will begin some screening for this study in early June and have to make countless trips to Vancouver for treatment. He is currently in Vancouver at his time under care to ensure his feeding tube is working properly. This makes it very hard financially on Jamin and Tamara as they are from Oliver BC a 5 hour drive from the hospital. Jamin is trying to keep up with his job to support his family but it is hard when his son needs to be in Vancouver all the time. Tamara isn't leaving her sons side she is with him 24-7 in Vancouver.

As Jamins sister I am reaching out for financial support for them during this time. They need to focus solely on Atticus and not have to worry financially. Anything will help and would be so greatly appreciated by Atticus and his family. If you can not contribute financially please say a prayer for baby Atty. He is a fighter my nephew , so strong and he amazes us everyday with his strength and happiness. Jamin and Tamara truly been rocks throughout this all their strength and positivity has been incredible. Atty chose them for a reason. They are his mommy and daddy, and Atty is going to be our miracle!
