Lamour funeral and living fund

Donation protected
Can the Brookline community come together to donate enough money in the next few days to allow the wonderful Lamour family to give their mother a proper farewell?  I know the answer is yes.  Please consider helping with a donation to this campaign.

The Lamours are a very special Brookline family.  When four boys pass through Brookline High in a matter of 7 years, they make an impression.  Mackenzie, Rubins, David, and Joel did more than make an impression though.  They caused countless teachers and staff to break the cardinal rule of not having "favorite" students. Each carried himself with dignity, humor, and spirit.  Each worked hard at school and graduated on to college.  They took advantage of special programs and supports at Brookline High.  They played sports.  They worked in various town departments.  They surrounded themselves with wonderful friends.   At home, they enjoyed the constant love and support of the rock of their family  - their mother Marjorie.

On Monday, Marjorie passed away after an extended illness.  The four boys still live together in the public housing unit they shared with their mother.  They will now become the sole caretaker of the fifth Lamour brother, Mackenson, who has severe disabilities and needs constant care.

The Lamour boys want to send off their mother with a proper service and burial.  Our local funeral home, Bell-O'Dea has generously offered to help them accomplish this important wish.  However, they still need to raise more money in order to cover all the costs associated with burial.  Will you please consider donating to this cause?  Any funds raised above the amount required for funeral services will be placed in a fund for education and life expenses for the boys.

Update:  Thank you all for your incredible support over the first 10 hours.  I have adjusted our goal from 5 to 10 thousand.  This new amount should fully cover funeral expenses and may also help the family cover pressing needs such as rent, food, and other living expenses.  Please continue to share this page with friends and family.

Update # 2:  Not even a whole day from launch, the response to this request for help has been nothing short of an inspiration.  The Lamour family is incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.  Tomorrow, they will meet with the funeral director at Bell-O'Dea funeral home in Brookline and begin planning what will undoubtedly be a dignified and fitting service for Marjorie.  This service will likely take place next Wednesday (details to be posted soon).  I would like to personally thank each and every donor for your generous support.  It is so uplifting to be reminded that even in times of sorrow moments of kindness can and do shine through.

Update # 3:  Thanks to the generous support of all of you, funeral services for Marjorie are now scheduled.
There is a wake (open to all) at 9am on Wednesday the 27th of May at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St.  Brookline MA.  The funeral service (same location) will follow at 10am.  The interment will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Brookline (96 Grove St.)  There will be an open reception after the interment from 12-2 at The Brookline Teen Center (40 Aspinwall Ave Brookline).
