Welcome to our adventure
https://utahtoeverest2018.weebly.com

We are a team of 7 climbers from Utah who are embarking on the trek of a lifetime.  Its a dream to so many, and so hard to obtain.  As the climb to Everest Base Camp approaches, feel free to come visit us on this website for updates.  As we realize we are each individually accomplished in our own fields, we want to leave a lasting positive effect as we go on this journey.  It is our hope that we will be able to provide school supplies, medical supplies, possible education equipment to the schools in the Kumbu area, Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone of north-eastern Nepal.  Communities and Schools that were so devastated from the earthquake of 2015
We are accepting donations both financial and material to this cause (Please see contact page of our website listed above) to help in the re-construction of schools.
In addition, as we travel we will be communicating with classrooms across northern Utah and the Galion, Ohio school district via web-presence and trending phone links, as available, in order to give students of all ages a first hand experience of the world.  We are quite a collection of people from across the Wasach Front here in Utah, all embarking on a dream...
...and all with a goal of helping others in need, and to enlighten youth of all ages!

MOUNT EVEREST
Base Camp Trek (October-November, 2018)

Greetings!  My name is Scott Palmer.  As a member and coordinator of the Utah2Everest Climbing Team 2018, I thought it would be good to tell you a little about myself and of our collective motivation for this journey.  On the website I have posted a brief biography of each of our members so that you can identify with us a little more personally.

I am currently in my 25th year as a teacher and former high school administrator with Weber School District, Ogden Utah. I am a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and a veteran of Iraq (2005-06) and have traveled the world.  A professional opera singer with Utah Symphony and Opera for twenty one seasons, an avid Peak Bagger & Mountain Biker, professional level Disk Golf player, and recent World Senior Games Gold and Silver medalist in swimming.
As I have lived my life accepting and meeting challenges, my goal has always been to bring my experiences back to the classrooms, and provide for students a real-world sensation of the world we live in.  And to challenge students of all ages to keep reaching for your dreams.  That being said, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you on…

                                                                                 …Another adventure!

October of this year (2018) myself, and six of my friends will be taking a trek to Mount Everest Base Camp, by way of Nepal.  A lifelong dream by so many, and obtained by so few.  My intent is to provide a daily broadcast/update of questions and answers with the students of Weber School District (Ogden, Utah, enrollment @ 34,000), and Galion Public Schools (my home town, enrollment @ 2,000) Galion, Ohio.  With this type of exposure, I will be talking extensively with students about the country and its citizens, the history of its struggles, and the joy and celebration of its beauty, both of the grandeur of its mountain vistas, and of its people.  This provides an opportunity for some first-hand experiences for students from opposite sides of the world.  Why do I do this?  As they say; Once an educator, always an educator".

I am proud to announce that we will be working closely with the program "Classrooms In The Clouds" CITI, as we get closer to our departure date in October.  They have offered to help direct our fundraising (all collected here with the gofundme program) that we conduct here in the United States, and get it where it is most needed in the northern region of Nepal.

We are all so blessed.  We have the responsibility of caring for each other as we travel on our journey in this lifetime.  I invite you to join us. Stay in touch with us...this is going to be amazing!
