What is CUPSI?
CUPSI is the premier intercolegiate poetry slam of the nation, and we are going for the first time. Over 50 colleges and universities will send a team to Virginia Commonwealth University on March 25-28th (of this year!) to compete in a 4 day series of poetry slams, workshops, and bonding events.
Slam poetry is a form of performance poetry that occurs within a competitive poetry event, called a “slam,” at which poets perform their own poems that are judged on a numeric scale by randomly picked members of the audience.
We are the innaguaral slam team for UNC Asheville, and we are more than pumped to represent this great university. But we need your help! We are reaching out to loved ones, fellow students, community members, and sponsors that will back us up in our journey.
Who are we?
Steve Shell, poet director, teacher, and slam father, is our coach.
We are: Rachel Dunkel, Devric Lefevre, Aaron Kreizman, Colette Heiser, and Makeda Sandford. Students and poets from University of North Carolina at Asheville.
What's the money for?
We have been graciously given the funds for registration by SAIL at UNCA, but now we need funds for our 3 night stay, transportation, and food costs.
Why?
With any contribution, you will be supporting 6 amazing poets, doing what they love to do, and sharing it with oter amazing poets. It will be fellowship, a sense of community, and you will now be a part of it. Thank you for your consideration, your love, and your money!
