Help us move home! Toxicity Testing

Hi Everyone,

This GoFundMe is to help the residents of the buildings neighboring the East Village explosion pay for air and dust toxicity testing in our apartments. The Department of Environmental Protection only conducted asbestos testing outside on the street and we do not think this is enough!

We have found an independent firm who is willing to help us out! They will conduct air and dust testing in 41 East 7th st and 125 2nd Ave; looking for lead, asbestos and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These potential health hazards have prevented a lot of us from moving back home. 

The money raised will go towards paying for the testing cost, which is $3900 to test the two adjacent buildings. I am a resident in 41 East 7th st (my building's the white one on the left!) and am familiar with the potential health hazards hydrocarbons can cause- from respiratory problems to cancer.

Please help us make sure our homes are safe!
