Participation in the Olympic Games is a dream of many in the United States and one that may soon come true for one of your fellow Montanans. This is a request for your assistance and sponsorship of Jason C. Herndon in his quest to gain a berth on the 2016 US Olympic Team for Olympic Freestyle Air Pistol.
For the past 25 years, Jason has pursued his dream of qualifying for and securing a position on the US Shooting Team in several different shooting events. Following his recent qualifying scores in national matches held at Fort Benning Georgia and Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Jason’s hard work and dedication, have culminated in an invitation to compete at the upcoming World Cup in Munich, Germany.
Jason’s immediate goal is to shoot a Minimal Qualifying Score at World Cup Munich (May 26-June 1, 2015) that will guarantee him an invitation to the US Olympic Team Trials in Fort Benning, Georgia in June 2016. In June 2015, Jason will compete to gaining a position on the USA Shooting Team which results in funding for future matches and competitions. Until this point, all travel, equipment, and coaching support Jason has received is either donated or is self-funded. Having attended over 15 matches at Fort Benning, Arizona and at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs since 2009, Jason’s ability to self-fund his trips to Munich and Fort Benning for the upcoming matches is stretched to the limit.
Anticipated expenses for travel to attend the World Cup and USA National Championships is approximately $5000. Any financial or moral support you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Your financial assistance and sponsorship to defray the costs of attending would allow Jason, a Missoula, Montana native, to continue to pursue his Olympic dream without having to shoulder the entire burden and attend to his other obligations. As a father of three young children, Hellgate Civilian Shooter’s youth athletic coach, manager of a local small family business, and husband, he and his wife Kerry, are dedicated to giving back to the community that has supported them. They fully recognize the significance of those who support his and other’s athletic careers, which serve to inspire other young people’s dreams of competing on the world stage that is the Olympics and make Missoula and western Montana a close knit and supportive community.
Although Jason is committed to pursue his dream of not only qualifying for the Olympic Team, his goal is return to Missoula with the Gold Medal! Please help him with his quest.
