Suman Relief Fund Nepal 2015
Donation protected

We had the chance to visit Nepal in March 2014. It was an incredible and memorable trek through the Khumbu Valley to Everest Base Camp. As beautiful as the mountains and ancient temples are, it was the kind gentleness and generosity of the people of Nepal that left the greatest impact on us. The struggle of the Nepalese people has left an indelible memory in our minds.
Our guide, Suman was one of the friendliest, down to earth and hard working individuals we have ever met. We became friends instantly and have kept in contact through email to this day. Suman, his wife and children age 5 and 3 months are from the rural village of Kavre. This village outside of Kathmandu was heavily hit by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. His family have lost their home along with their belongings and their source of income, Suman’s guiding of trekkers through the mountains of Nepal. With growing casualties and pending monsoon, the next biggest threat is the spreading of diseases. Their house is now a pile of uninhabitable rubble and they live in a make shift tent.
About 500 families in the Kavre are now completely homeless. Although incredibly resilient, Suman’s family needs help to make sure they are able to survive through the monsoon season.
We are currently focusing on making sure that his family has the most urgent supplies and a roof over their head. Please donate to this fund so we can help his family rebuild their lives with our efforts immediately. 100% of the money raised will be wired directly to his family fund.
This was in the last email from Suman:
“We have nothing in our hand we are completely in big trouble in our lifetime. We always have lots of pressure how to survive and take care of our 2 little boys and send them to school. How to make a house? It takes a lot of money to build a house, 10,000 dollar. It's a huge amount for us. How can I make in my lifetime? For now it is where to put my family now with the Nepal monsoon start again. We have to face big problems.
Sometime we don't eat very much because of here is not good management of the toilet and the clean water. Have so many problems created in our life after earthquake. We never thought or imagined one day it will happen and we would have to face this problems. Such a very critical situation here we are living at this moment while I am typing my words, both eyes are wetting and dropping some water. I cannot try to stop it since I arrived at home from the trekking season. Since long days didn't sleep well i will try but i can't this problems since long time ago for me but this time quite more than the first.”
I thank you for considering a donation to help Suman and his family during this difficult time for him and his family.
