A Van More Than Transportation

Donation protected
Our van was more than just our transportation.
On April 13, 2015 we were awakened by a knock at the front door, from our neighbor in the basement apartment at about 2am.  She told me, "you need to try and move your van. The car next to your's is on fire".  I ran to the back of our apartment building to find the fire was already at my driver side door.  Who ever set that fire, left the passenger door wide open to my neighbor's car.  As you can see in the cover photo.  That vehicle on fire belonged to my neighbors in the second floor apartment.  When the Police & Fire Department arrived, my neighbors stated they had no clue who did this.  So the Police wrote Non-Criminal for the incident on the report.  I told the officer I had just down graded to liability only insurance from having had full coverage for the past two years, when I renewed my insurance policy on March 24, 2015.  The Officer stated she would write in the report that my van would not have burned down had her vehicle not burn my vehicle down.  But StateFarm stated unless I find out who did this, they would not investigate the cause of the fire. They also stated they were claiming this as property to property damages and their insured was not liable here in the State of ILLINOIS.  I had Scentsy products in the van that were damaged in the fire, both my children's car seats melted, and multiple personal items damaged. StateFarm continued to state that I would have to take this as a LOSS.  As you can see in the picture, the passenger door to my neighbor's car was left wide open. There is NO Way this was an "Act Of God".  Our van was more than just our transportation.  I would have daily conversations with my children on how their day was. Personal conversations on what's going on in their lives. Conversations you just can not have on public transportation.  I have elderly parents that I would take to their doctors appointments from time to time.  My oldest is a young adult, I have a teen, a tween, a six year old and an 18 months old. I am a self employed Scentsy Consultant and my children are also involved in several after school programs. This is an unfortunate situation out of my control.  I am Not the type of person who asks for help.  But I understand there is a time in our lives, when we have to humble ourselves and allow others to help us, when we are at a loss as we are now.  Your Donations would be helping Our Family Recover from this total loss and would allow us to return to our routine lives.
