Hello!
My name is Kyle and I am a potential Eagle Scout candidate in Boy Scout Troop 701 of Strongsville, Ohio.
After attending a "Reach Out & Read" conference, I learned the importance of literacy among young children and chose to develop a book drive.
My eagle project is to purchase and collect new children's books to be donated to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital through their "Reach Out & Read" program.
By making a small donation, you will make a positive impact on a disadvantaged young child right here in the cleveland area.
Reach Out & Read is a program designed to prepare America's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.
At regular checkups , trained doctors and nurses speak with parents about the importance of reading aloud, starting in infancy. At checkups from 6 months through 5 years of age, the child receives a new book to take home. Also, many Reach Out and Read program sites create literacy-rich environments that include gently-used books for waiting room use.
100% of money I receive will be used to purchase new age appropriate children's books, similar to Dr. Seuss, and will deliver the books to the Cleveland location of Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
Local area book suppliers work with "Reach Out & Read" and will provide special discounts to make your donations go farther.
