Abby Kings House Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected

My name Is Ashlee Stokes and I am a close friend of Abby King. She has agreed to allow me to help raise money for a fire that devestated her home on Monday, May 11, 2015.

Abby is a single mom of two girls. A 12 year old named Grace, and a 4 almost 5 year old named Lillee who has a birthday on June 2. Due to medical reasons, inperticular two knee surgeries in the last 8 months she is currently unemployed.

Abby is one of the most caring and kind-hearted people that I know. She was hesitant about asking for help from anyone because that is not the kind of person she is, but due to the fact that people have already been so kind in reaching out to help we decided that this would be a great way for people to show support.

I realize not everyone knows who I am, so I asked Abby to share her thoughts and feelings.

To all of those who want to help:

On Monday, May 11, 2015 my daughter Grace was home alone folding laundry when she saw flames out of the corner of her eye. She reacted by grabbing her phone, running out of the home and calling 911. The Charlotte Fire Department responded in less the 10 minutes to put the fire out. It has been ruled an electrical fire.

Grace showed true heroism, and great smarts in what she did. She thankfully saved the structure of the home. Unfortunately, even in that small amount of time the house was a complete loss. Everything has either heat or smoke damage. Insurance will pay to rebuild the home, so we are very greatful for that. But we lost all of the contents. Unfortunately that insurance policy was to low to cover everything.

We are excepting clothes or anything that you would like to donate. Grace is a size 10 or 000. Shoe size 5-6. Lillee is a 5-6 and shoe size 12. Anything you would like to give at this time would be greatly appreciated.

Because it takes so much time to rebuild, my family and I agree that the easiest thing would be to accept donations so we can buy things we need for the mean time, and to help rebuild our home which could be a very long process.

I am grateful that Ashlee has takin on the responsibility of administering this website and our donations so that I can focus on other things right now.

Thank you so much for reaching out, taking the time to just call, or send a message. Every bit counts in the process of healing and moving on. I am humbled in how much love and support people have graciously shown me and my girls. Please do not feel the need to donate, I take calls and prayers. Please feel free to donate in any way you can.

Love Always,

Abby King

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to message me, Ashlee Stokes on FB.

Thanks again for all of the love and support for my friend Abby.

Sincerely,

Ashlee Stokes
