My name is Christy McCormick from Wichita Ks. My passion is to fly. I love building early, rare antique aircraft . My favorite is the French homebuilt HM-14 flying flea . This little airplane caught the attention of the aviation world by storm back in the early 1930,s but now there is only a handful of them left, mostly in museums. I want to re-create a living flying replica of a unique airplane that people can be inspired about. learn from. This brilliant design from Henri Mignet contibuted to the design and developmentof the Hm-14 Flying Flea that led famous aircraft engineers such as Burt Rutan, who developed the tailless canard type homebuilts. Including the Beechcraft Starship. And, the "voyager" that flew around the world nonstop in 1986. Henri Mignet,s Canard/tailess a/c inspired this engineer of today. The Aviation contribution from the HM_14 flying Flea is Invaluable. An integeral part of Aviation as we know it. That is why I so passionately want to finish my flea. I built and flew my 1st HM-14 in 2003. But, had to sell it. I felt like i lost my best friend. My flea.... I want to preserve a huge part of History. I have been a lincensed commercial rated pilot/flight instructor since 1980. With over 3 thousand flying hrs logged. In addition, I have worked for Cessna, Boeing/Spirit and various aircraft companies in Wichita ks., I have15 yrs sheetmetal and wood construction in aircraft . To date, I have completed the fuselauge and rudder. I have an an engine for it, and need assistance with wood, a propeller, turnbuckles for flying wires, and fabric and fabric supplies. I am saving as much as i can.. I started on my fuselage 5 yrs ago and hope to have it completed and flying by the autumn.. I really so much want to have my little machine in air shows. This is my lifelong dream . To fly again,, A HUGE part of Aviation history. My little flying flea. ..........Sincerely, Christy McCormick
