ACT-SO - Academic, Cultural, Technological, Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) provides high school students grades 9-12 the opportunity to further develop and showcase their talents, while competing for scholarships, internships, and publications at the local and national level under the umbrella of Sciences, Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Culinary Arts, and Business. The local competition has small monetary recognition, and qualifies students for nationals. The St. Helena/Lady's Island Branch have three students, Briona Millidge, Jarany Palacio and Margaret Lavigne who will be competing at the national competition. The national competition will be held in Phila, PA July 9-11 and includes prizes and awards of over $200,000, primarily in the form of scholarships, but also includes other recognition such as internships and published work.
