Dear Friends,
One of my favorite songs is the one sung by Tina Turner called "We Don't Need Another Hero." Listen to the lyrics AFTER hearing this testimony by our friend and sister, Dee Dee Watters and you realize that SHE embodies the lyrics of the song. She has brought LOVE and COMPASSION to this community, embracing others outside of this Thunderdome in Houston that continues to make it hard for working people, loving people, to find SAFE and affordable housing. The rules are changing for those of us who are activists, who give of themselves so fully that nothing or little is left for them in times of crisis. Truth is that sometimes we just don't take care of our needs first.
As a friend and sister to Dee Dee, I'm asking that we put her FIRST. Let's help her find housing IMMEDIATELY. We can do this. Raise more than $1,250 which would be at least the deposit and first month's rent. Dee Dee is a very capable woman and if we do this in the next 24-48 hours, we will show the world that we don't need another hero, but a friend. And as her friend we can help her find a way HOME with LOVE. Open your purses and wallets today. I'm starting it off.
