TS Farms Fire Rebuild

:
On Saturday July 11, 2015 as we at TS Farms were winding down for the night we had no idea that we would suffer so great a loss. Around 8:30pm farmer Tim was tucking everyone in for the night, he watered and checked the temperature in our chicken house that was housing our Thanksgiving turkey poults. Baby turkeys need to be kept around 90* for the first part of there life. All was well so he moved on down the road to check the cows. He returned home around 9:30/10:00pm got himself a bite to eat and headed for the shower. He told the kids they had about 10 minutes to finish their movie and head to bed. The girls finished their movie and as they were headed to bed Traci looked out the window to find the chicken house was on fire. She started yelling the barn is on fire the barn is on fire!! I looked out the window and saw that the chicken house was indeed on fire. Flames were shooting out the top. I ran outside and grabbed a hose and started spraying the front of the barn that was next to the chicken house. I could see that there was no way to save the turkey poults as the entire chicken house was engulfed in flames. The barn next to the chicken house, which housed our sheep and goats, was also becoming engulfed in flames. I could see that there were sheep and goats in the barn. I ran in to try and run the animals out but they would have had to go past the fire and they wanted no part of that. I then ran around the side of the barn where they were hiding and ripped three or four boards off the side of the barn making an opening for them to go out. The poor things were so scared they wouldn't even run out the hole. I yelled for Traci and Tim to come help. Traci ran into the burning barn to help me drag the animals to the hole where Tim grabbed them and threw them to safety. Praise God we were able to save all of the goats and sheep. There were a few of our laying hens roosting in the barn that were unable to get out. Tim saw one poor hen that was running around on fire and felt so bad for it. Tim did call 911 and we had 2 fire departments respond with 2 more on stand by.

Both the chicken house and the barn were a total loss.

Our insurance company is telling us that they are not going to cover our losses. We have a farm policy and they are telling us that the way a farm policy works is that there has to be a specific coverage amount listed per structure in order for it to be covered. They have all of our structures noted on the policy but only have coverage on one unnamed structure. They are saying that the barn that burnt down was not the barn listed in the policy. We are not even sure if they are going to cover our turkey poults. We have been very fortunate to replace the poults but at 3x the original purchase price due to the Avian Influenza. We are very out of our comfort zone in setting up this page but we do not know how else we will be able to provide another shelter for our animals. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking time to read our story. Tim , Tiffany, Traci, Tara, Tessa owner/operators of TS Farms non gmo pasture raised  meats and eggs.
