About the Film

TREE follows the story of Neil Crummett, writer/poet, who, in an attempt to solve a personal crisis of purpose, has traveled to the island of Maui to confront everything he has ever believed about himself and the nature of being.  Desperate for redemption from a dissolute past, Neil has chosen to embark upon a perilous 49 day fast to learn about himself, human consciousness, and the nature of enlightenment.  

Neil will sit with teachers, priests, sages, shamans, physicians, scientists, seers, and healers from various religious, spiritual, medical, and scientific modalities as they weave a tapestry of concepts to help him on his path.  Neil's physiology and brain patterns will be measured as he quests toward spiritual awakening.

Above all TREE is a human story filled with triumphs and failures; a laugh at ourselves exploration that aims to answer the question of who we might become if we step outside what is comfortable, listen to what is within us, and ride the winds of uncertainty in search of a better self.

TREE is a story in which you will cheer, hope, dream, and cry...

...and most surely... laugh.

Why We are Telling This Story

TREE tells one of the oldest and greatest stories ever told: a rite of passage tale, the story of a man forever changed by a journey he must take.  Yes, TREE is a story about a man who fasts; yes, it is a story about a man looking for himself and exploring the concept of enlightenment, but further, it is a story about a man who risks everything to seek true and powerful change, to look for a better way in his life.

I have always championed the story of self-transformation, of metamorphosis, people reaching toward a higher level of self.  It's a story we should never stop telling ourselves.  It's a story we should never stop creating in ourselves.

This is precisely why I am helping tell his story, because it is each and every one of our story. To whatever end, I believe it will inspire countless people to look for the place within themselves that encourage them to make better choices and lead with their hearts

Where You Come In

Neil's fast begins in September and there is still much to do.

In addition to our time we have been pleased to contribute any financial resources we have toward this project. The task, is of course, immense and for this story to truly get its due.  We need your help.

We need $40,000 to set up proper medical monitoring and testing, to fly, house, and transport the crew and all our invited experts, and to pay for for the massive amount of tapes, hard drive space, batteries, lighting, and other equipment costs.

Every step of the way you will receive updates into the progress of the film and what is happening to Neil.
