Courtney and I have been friend's for about 24 years now. It is breaking my heart to watch this strong, independent, out-going, crazy girl go through this. She has shown a type of strength that gives me chills.
Although she has only just begun this long process of fighting this terrible disease, I know she will come out even stronger on the other side of this.
I am sure everyone else is like me in wondering, "What can I do to help Court (and her amazing family)?" It crosses my mind every day. They have so much to think about these days, and I wanted to do something to help relieve some of the stress they have been under. I know I cannot take it all away, but one way that was brought to my attention was to set up this site for Courtney and her family. I know Courtney will be back and forth from her parent's home in Martinsburg, WV to John's Hopkins in Baltimore, MD many times in the upcoming months. It is about an hour and a half to two hour drive one-way. Last week, when Court had her surgery, her parents were by her side every second. They stayed in a hotel in Towson so they could be close by. The reason for this was because Courtney was worried about them driving back and forth from their home to the hospital each morning and night, as they had originally planned to do, so she surprised them with a hotel room near the hospital.
I think it would be so amazing for Court and her family, if we could raise some funds to help them out during this difficult time. To be able to contribute towards their gas money, hotel bills, medical bills, medicine, and all those holistic products Court is using to try to fight this battle, what a wonderful gift this would be. I know they would be so grateful, and if it would help relieve their stress, even just a little bit, it would be well worth it.
