Competing in United World Games
Donation protected
My name is Lauren Fitzmaurice, and I have been selected to represent the U.S. in basketball for the United World Games this June as a U19 player. The games are played in Austria, Germany and Italy. I was recruited during basketball camps last summer, as a coach at Stanford camp recommended me to the World Games team.
Basketball means a lot to me, and being from the Methow Valley it's difficult to be seen and get the exposure and opportunities I need. I have aspirations to play in college, and showcase trips like this are really helpful in college recruiting. An opportunity like this would also be a great personal learning journey--a chance to experience other cultures, languages, and values. If given this chance to play against international teams, and to be coached by high level individuals, I hope to achieve my dream of playing college basketball.
The funds I am seeking will augment my work income to pay for the program, and other costs. Thank you so much for any help you can give to send me on this adventure.
$4200 is the cost of the program, which includes roundtrip airfare from New York to Europe, ground transportation, lodging, tournament fees, and food.
$500 is the approximate cost to fly roundtrip Seattle to New York.
$300 is the approximate cost to overnight in New York or New Jersey before and after the flight to and from New York and Europe.
$300 is what I estimate I will need for snacks, incidentals and sightseeing.
TOTAL: $5300
I am working towards and saving $1500 of my own money to pay for the trip.
