Update:

Bob Toneff, NFL football great and All-American out of Notre Dame, is now with a higher, Super-Team. Bob passed away peacefully on March 15th, 2015 in San Anselmo, CA.

We offer our most humble and sincere thanks to all who enabled us to give Bob his final wish: To be cared for at home, and to remain part of our family as long as possible. His many hugs and thanks were our reward.

Those who contributed gave us this memorable "moment in time". Thank you.

The Toneff Family seeks your continued support to aid in their financial recovery.

Bob Toneff, one of the oldest living pro football players now needs more than your winning cheers.

An All American from Notre Dame, Bob played in the NFL from 1952-64 for the 49ers, and then for the Redskins. An exciting, brutal career during the age of the leather helmet, when the roughness of the sport was not compensated by the intense medical concerns we show players today.

He has been coping with the result of a battered body for many years. Though he has never been one to complain, or ask for sympathy, his injuries and health are not affording him the life he has fought so hard for.

Recently, bob was hospitalized for heart failure in conjunction with pulmonary hypertension. This is a very difficult disease to treat. Currently his doctors are utilizing cutting edge medications to manage aggressive diuresis and atrial fibrillation. At this time Bob needs 24 hour home care, as well as other medical attention which is very costly.

Although Bob suffers from an enlarged heart, the true telling of the size of his heart is his love for his family and what he's given back to the community. Bob has coached pop-warner football, donated his time to give promotional talks, and up until recently was a well-loved figure as a marshall/starter at Peacock Gap golf club.

As a family, we have rallied around Bob and are doing all we can to help him recover. Knowing that the recovery time will be long and carries a large financial burden, we are asking for the support of those who know, love, and admire him like we do. Please, along with your donation of any amount, send us your positive thoughts. The Toneff family is grateful for both your well-wishes and your donations.
