We are Chhori . Chhori is the word meaning "daughter" in the Nepali language. The Chhori team has been working hard to empower women in our country and fight for gender equality. We want to stop the trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable girls and women. We are a registered non-profit here in Nepal, with a normal focus on education, empowerment and advocacy.
On Saturday, April 25th, our world was turned upside down when a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck, killing thousands and levelling hundreds of villages to the ground. For days, villagers have been sleeping outside in the rain, with little access to food or medicine. Village leaders have made appeals for help, and our team at Chhori is working hard to provide the desperately needed basics like shelter, food, medicine and sanitation supplies. By providing the basic needs to these villages and helping them return to stability and security, we can help ensure that women, girls and children are not being put at increased risk of abuse and exploitation
By donating to Chhori, you are helping Nepali women to help each other and their communities, without the red tape or bureaucracy which waste much precious time while people starve. The village leaders are asking us for help and our funds have been depleted. The need in these villages is great, desperation is building, and the risk to the girls is growing. Chhori has been funded by a human rights organization and a few caring individuals. This is our first ever outreach of this kind. We do not have a large network outside of Nepal, so please stand with us in this time of need and please take a minute to post to your Facebook, send an email, pray, whatever you have time to do.
