The Vasquez Family Fund

It is with heartfelt sorrows that we learned of the tragic loss of Steve Vasquez on January 7, 2016.  Steve and his wife Stephanie were involved in a car accident in their hometown of Kyle, TX shortly after dinnertime.  While the details of the accident are unknown at this time, we do know that Steve ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene while Stephanie and their unborn baby girl were transferred to a local hospital in Austin.

Stephanie has incurred several injuries including multiple broken bones to her ribs, back and pelvis in addition to some internal bleeding. At this point she and the baby are stable but clearly have a long road of recovery in front of them.  Updates to their status will be posted periodically as information becomes available.

Steve grew up as an avid and well-skilled soccer player eventually playing on multiple club teams and becoming a scholar athlete.  He attended UC Riverside and earned a Math degree and Teaching Credential and then went on to earn a Masters Degree from Concordia University. Steve and Stephanie met at Corona High School in Corona, CA where they both taught.  After teaching for 11 years, Steve and Stephanie moved to Kyle, TX about 6 months ago for Steve to pursue new career opportunities and follow God’s leading.

Those who knew Steve knew he had a special aura that touched all.  He had that infectious laugher that could bring down the room. His overall passion for life was evident in anything that he endured including multiple Ragnar relay races.  Whether it was his margarita skills, being a handy man around the house, playing with his puppies, cheering on the Angels from across the country or just being a supporting husband, Steve lived life to the fullest.  He was a Godly man who believed strongly in his faith and supported his church.  Steve was an incredible uncle, brother, son, friend and father.

He will surely be greatly missed but we know his legacy will continue with the students he taught, the friends and family he loved, and the baby girl that will enter this world in the upcoming months.

This gofundme campaign has been started to help the Vasquez family with funeral costs, medical expenses, Stephanie and the baby on their road for recovery, and to help with unforeseen expenses moving forward.  Your contribution no matter the size is greatly appreciated.  And if you cannot help monetary wise, please help us in sharing their message and continued prayers for the family.

Though there are no words to describe this devastating travesty please take this moment to reflect upon your own life and make sure to hug a little harder, laugh a little more and love a little deeper.

On behalf of the Vasquez and Helmrich families, thank you for your support and God bless.
