Help Me Survive Divorce
In 2005 when my girls were still toddlers, my wife emphatically asked me to switch places with her, to let her return to the workforce. Being a supportive husband, I reluctantly agreed. We needed one parent to stay home because one of my girls has a medical condition, requiring special care and A LOT of doctor appointments.
Unfortunately, over the past year and a half, our marriage degraded, despite my efforts to save it. I tried my best to save our marriage through counseling, but it didn’t work and we are now in the midst of a divorce. I immediately obtained a credit card and a job.
The job is close to home so I can still maintain a lot of my at-home dad duties, and I'm only minutes away if they need me during school. However, the salary is terrible, and the opposing attorneys have done a lot of stalling and rescheduling which has really run up my legal fees.
My legal bills are mounting and I’m currently struggling to maintain legal counsel while also continuing to pay the bills and keep the household running.
Now that the credit card is maxing out, I have nowhere to turn but friends and family to make it through this final legal stretch.
As humiliating as it is, I am just about out of options, and must reach out to friends and family to help fund the next month or two of legal fees.
Believe me, this is an absolute last resort. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'd MUCH prefer to earn the money myself through some form of work. Once custody and visitation are set, I'll be able to get a second job to pay off this massive mountain of debt that this divorce has left me with.
I cannot even begin to thank you enough for even just reading this. As much as I need to obtain funds as quickly as possible, I would not have made it through this last year of hell without the emotional support of my friends and family. I'm looking forward to life with my two daughters becoming stable again.
