Dearest Friends, Family, and Strangers,
It's with a heavy heart, that I sit here staring blankly into the computer screen.  I struggle as I try to find the right words to say. First, allow me to introduce myself, my name is Serina Magley and I am a close friend of the Henderson's.  For those who may not know the backstory to the Henderson's, please know that they are the cutest, most loving, wonderful little family of four.

Josh and Jamie's story began while Josh was over seas serving with the United States Navy as a Rescue Swimmer and Helicopter Door Gunner. Josh secretly had a crush on Jamie for years but was always much to nervous to speak with her. Josh finaly mustered the courage to write to her while on his deployment and organized a date with Jamie when he returned home to the States.  The two developed a close friendship that quickly became a blossoming love. Theiir bond was emensley strong and the two could hardly stand a moment apart from one another. Jamie would make frequent trips out to San Diego, where Josh was stationed. The day Jamie graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Criminal Justice, she moved to Califonia to be with Josh.  Josh was soon after sent on deployment to preform anti-piracy operation off of the coast of Africa.  Jamie patiently waited 8 months to see Josh again. Once Josh was home, the two had decided that they wanted to marry and have children. With a beautiful goal in mind, Josh decided to leave the military so that he could spend more time state side to be with his wife and start a family. They soon moved to Phoenix Arizona, where they both grew up, to be closer to their families. Josh wanted to contiue a career that would allow him to employ his special operations expierience in the civilian world and is currently in the hiring process with the Phoenix Fire Department as well as the Phoenox Police department and is currently earning his Paramedic certification.

In July 2013, the two said their I do's. But we can't keep the best part from you; Josh and Jamie had also welcomed their first child. Wild and rambunctious, the perfect little lady, Maddison Marie.  Experiencing life as parents and feeling all the joys that a child brings, Josh and Jamie knew they wanted more children.  In August 2014, the family of three would grow to a family of four! They were pregnant! Happy with either a girl or a boy, they got the exciting news, that they would have the best of both worlds! They were having a boy!

The next 9 months for the family was like a roller coaster ride you couldn't get off of. Jamie faced many complications during her pregnancy. The pair lived in constant fear that their little boy wouldn't make it. Jamie was put on bed rest nearly half way through her pregnancy due to complete placenta previa and had many trips in and out of the hospital. Doctors had advised Jamie that this should be her last pregnancy. For 36 weeks Jamie fought and fought to keep her little guy inside. The doctors feared for the health and wellness of Jamie and baby and decided he would have a better chance of survival being born a premature. They scheduled for Jamie to have a c-section. On March 16th 2015 at 12:26 P.M. weighing 7lbs 1oz Calvin Ellis Henderson was born. Calvin was a fighter. He was immediately sent to an incubator and hooked up to a breathing tube and heart monitor. The NICU unit at Paradise Valley Hospital did all they could within their facility but made the critical decision to have him transferred to Arrowhead NICU for a higher level of treatment. Calvin suffered from Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Jaundice. On the 5th day of his life, Calvin was finally able to feel the comforts of Mom. They shared beautiful moments of skin to skin and built a bond that couldn't be broken. With a miraculous change of events, Calvin proved his courageous strength and was released from the hospital to get his first taste of home. Over the next few weeks Calvin had a beautiful life. Making little sister laugh and filling Jamie and Josh with an immense amount of love. Their family was finally complete. At his 4 week check-up, he was gaining weight and growing at an off the chart rate, making Mom and Dad proud.

It goes without saying, that sometimes terrible things happen to great people. Without reasoning, everything we live for could be gone in the blink of an eye. On Sunday April 26th, without warning, Jamie and Josh awoke to their little boy pulseless and breatheless. Josh instinclivly began CPR and did all he could to revive his son while they waited for the fire department to arrive. After transporting Calvin to the hospital, Doctors and Nurses performed their jobs flawlessly but unfortunatley were not able to resesitate him. After about an hour of trying the doctors called his time of death at 7:31 A.M. Just like that,  he was taken out of the arms of his loving parents.

Now I dont know about you, but as a parent myself, I could never imagine losing my child. Two wonderful people need our help. Whether it's by putting positive thoughts out into the world or by donating something as minimal as five dollars. The family is facing quite the long road ahead and together I know we can help make it a lot easier for them. The smallest contribution helps. I'd like to ask that in this time of grief you allow the parents their personal space and give them necessary time to greive. Funeral information will be released at a later date and presented upon their discression.

On behalf of the Henderson's, I thank you for wanting to be a part of such a tragic event. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers and hold on tight to your loved ones. You never know what tomorrow brings.
Their family is now three people, plus an angel.
