Texas Epileptic Faces Prison

Donation protected

Hello everyone, My name is Jeremy Bourque, from Port Arthur, Tx. In March of 2014, I was raided by the police for cultivation of three marijuana plants that were specifically used to treat my epilepsy. The medicine from these three plants would have been enough for me to live seizure-free and productive for a year. Instead my family was frightened, my equipment was destroyed, and my plants were unceremoniously uprooted and absconded with. Since then, without my own treatment, I've been in and out of the hospital for seizure related injuries more times since March than I have in my thirty eight year existence.

My trial for growing these three plants to treat my severe epilepsy begins January 26, 2015 in Port Arthur, Texas. Unfortunately, despite the unwavering support of a loving family, I am in need of funds to provide a defense for myself in court. I am fighting not just for my freedom, but for the right of all sick Texans to treat their medical conditions the way they and their doctors best see fit.

The irony of my situation is that it is very likely that the state of Texas will be giving serious consideration very soon  to both medical marijuana as well as the decriminalization  of less than an ounce of marijuana. I truly believe that now is the time for a serious discussion about marijuana law reform in Texas, and the increasing media attention of my barbaric prosecution will further mariuana law reform in my state.

This prosecution is the most emotionally taxing, expensive event my family and I have ever been through, and if convicted I stand the very real chance of dying in a Texas prison. I am eternally grateful to all who donate to my defense, and also gratefully accept encouraging words, prayers and good thoughts. I also encourage everyone to keep up with my case on Facebook.
