Hi Everyone! My Name is Nicole Mayo I am a part of a wonderful career venture program that is called Streetwise Partners here in Washington DC. Streetwise Career Ventures program is a 3 month career mentoring program that delivers high-impact professional development services to provide skills for work and confidence for life.
I have been in the program for 7 weeks and I have already learned so much about myself, my strengths, and the desire to succeed. The people in my class want a better life, period. Some are currently seeking employment and Streetwise Partners is helping us by pairing us up with professional mentors that have a wealth of experience and equip us with tools that will help us to unlock our potential.
My Mentor's name is Kate Wahl and she is a phenomenal person. She challenges me every week by pushing me out of my comfort zone and she is helping me face my fears. We are working to build my confidence and gain education on various career industries.
We are an unstoppable team! We are tackling public speaking skills, resume and cover letter workshops, setting SMART goals, increasing my professional network, job searching, and conducting informational interviews. I also have a capstone presentation in 5 weeks.
I have started a Team No Fear Campaign. I am trying to raise $600.00 that will be used to make inspirational t-shirts for my classmates because I want them to know that it is time for us to face our fears. Seeking employment is scary at times. I will also use the remainder of the money to begin to get the certifications I need to land my dream job!!
