Hi guys,
My name is Sam Rogers and I'm currently in Nepal with Jacinta Lawry and we are trying desperately to raise as much vitally needed money as possible to aid efforts in rural areas of the country - where aid is incredibly difficult to come by.
For the time being, our efforts are being focused on the Gorkha region - which is where the epicentre of the Earthquake was.
Out of 1200 homes in the area, less than 100 have been left standing so we are in the process of buying up as many tents, blankets and other necessary supplies as we can in an effort to help. Due to the difficult nature of landing helicopters in the area and getting access - aid is proving hard to deliver.
So far, along with others in our Guest house we have managed to raise & spend roughly $3600 on 99 tents that can sleep anywhere from 10-20 people (and some upwards of 40 people), 89 blankets, sleeping mats, 200L of diesel and 100 x 25 kg sacks of rice - as well as water purification tablets etc.
We also organised a truck for the day to get these much needed supplies to the area which has been sent TODAY.
Thankfully we have a friend in the area who we're in regular contact with, who's providing us with details of what is required - which is great for allowing us to know exactly what we need to buy to ensure the money is spent wisely!!
We plan to raise further funds which will be spent on more shelter, blankets, food and medical supplies etc which will be decided upon as we gather further information.
Any help would be appreciated beyond words.
I will be uploading photos as we go of the progress we are making to ensure you see how the money is spent.
Kind Regards,
Sam Rogers
