Support Sankhu Earthquake Relief

My name is Season Shrestha, and I am appealing for donations to support a town called Sankhu in Nepal. I grew up there, and most of my family still lives there. I can help my family, but it's really important to help the whole town, which lost nearly everything in the April 25, 2015 earthquake. This beautiful, ancient town of 1000 homes in Kathmandu valley was reduced to rubble after the earthquake--more than 80% destroyed! Many homes collapsed, and others are uninhabitable. Sankhu's people need shelter and basic supplies as well as significant support to rebuild the community.
I am working with a group of others who grew up in Sankhu (Sakwomis), along with people who love it like we do, to raise funds for Sankhu. Though we live outside Nepal, we have very strong ties to Sankhu. Our families, friends, and neighbors desperately need help. ABC News Originals shared this video of Sankhu on April 29:
We will fund local initiatives using 100% of the donations we collect. We will distribute funds through Sankhu Jaycees, Friends of Sankhu, and Lions Club of Sankhu, all of which are local non-profit organizations working in Sankhu. We will make sure that these donations are used for projects to benefit the whole town or are distributed to help all neighborhoods (toles), with consideration to need based on how much of the neighborhood was destroyed.
Our goal is to provide resources for Sankhu's short-term needs but focus most on longer-term community efforts. Immediate resources we are providing are medical supplies, hand sanitizer, and shelters. I am organizing this through friends traveling to Nepal as well as through contacts in Kathmandu willing to take supplies to Sankhu. We will fund other projects that community leaders and local organizations identify as priorities for Sankhu.
