Marsh Goes to Nationals!

Marsh Speech and Debate is headed to the National Tournament, but we need your help to realize this opportunity. OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE EVERYTHING BY THE END OF MAY!
Information about the event:
The NSDA National Tournament is the largest academic competition in the world. Thousands of students from all states and several countries come together to compete at the highest level of academic ability.
This year, the tournament is June 16-19 in Dallas! This is a huge chance for us to take a lot of kids to this potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
About Us:
Last year, Marsh was the first Dallas ISD middle school to ever attend nationals. It was an amazing experience, but this year we have so much more potential. We are bringing a group of around 30 students to compete in 10 different events over the course of three days. For many of these students, this will be their first time doing anything like this.
Support:
We have gotten some support from outside sources (which have been wonderful), but this year because of the size of the group, we are having to raise more than we have in the past. In addition to what we are asking for here, students are also being asked to pitch in. However, in order to make it the experience the kids deserve, we need to raise more. We are trying to raise $5,100 to support our trip.
Here is where that money will go:
- Food for 30 students and adults for three days
- Supplies (paper, pens, ordering materials, research materials, etc.)
- Fees for the tournament
- Hotel*
*Even though the tournament is in Dallas, we are getting a hotel for two main reasons: First, because we want students to have the full experience of going to the national tournament and to develop the camaraderie and fellowship that comes from an overnight experience with your classmates. Second, we want to make sure that all the students are in once place so we don't have to worry about transportation or whether or not they may not show up on day 2 or 3. One of the best parts of the experience last year for the kids was staying in the hotel because some had never done that, or had never spent a night away from parents.
We also have a letter we can give for tax purposes to acknowledge your donation. If you would like one, please let me know.
We will definitely also take in-kind donations. Specific things we may need include:
- Printer paper
- pens, pencils, highlighters, etc.
- If you have interp materials, we would love to have those
- If you have a laptop or netbook that you would be willing to donate, that would be amazing (this is on our wishlist)
- Professional clothing for students who can't afford it
- Snacks and bottled water for the days of the tournament
