Earthquake Relief Donations

On Friday April 25th, Nepal was hit by a devastating earthquake which affected many families and individuals in Nepal. In order to help, Nepalese Student Association has decided to use Nepal Night as an opportunity to make the community aware of the situation in Nepal and to advertise about gofundme. Gofundme is a website where individuals can donate money for aid relief in Nepal. These donations will be divided and given to four different organizations: British Red Cross, Oxfam International, Himalayan HealthCare, and Engineers Without Borders- Nepal. One- third of the money will go to British Red Cross, one-third will go to Oxfam International and the remaining will be divided between Globemed and Engineers Without Borders- Nepal. These organization will aid different parts of Nepal that have been affected and help the people recover. These organizations will provide relief in various areas of Nepal, including food, water, health, and rebuilding.


British Red Cross

British Red Cross provides care to communities that have been affected by various disasters. They work in partnership with other agencies and organizations that provide services to disaster victims. They provide shelter, food, health and mental health services to help families and entire communities get back on their feet. They respond quickly and usually are the first organization at the scene during disasters. Even through this devastating crisis in Nepal, they were one of the first to provide aid for those in need.

 

Oxfam International| The power of people against Poverty

Oxfam is an international organization that focus on finding solutions to poverty and help around 94 countries worldwide. They have been helping Oxfam workers are on the ground preparing to launch a response to ensure food and water reaches the ones in need.  They are working to help the country recover from this massive destruction caused by the devastating earthquake.

 

Himalayan HealthCare

GlobeMed is a student run non-profit organization that comprises of a network of university students across the United States which strives towards the mission of global health equity. GlobeMed does this specifically by partnering with Himalayan HealthCare which is an NGO based in Dhading, Nepal. HHC stands by the motto of helping people help themselves. HHC does this by sufficing three crucial pillars of well-rounded health and welfare: education, primary healthcare and income generation. Dhading is one of the most affected areas in the recent catastrophe that took place in Nepal. GlobeMed and HHC are working in solidarity to provide aid to the ones affected in this area and also to reconstruct the damage that the earthquake has evoked.


Engineers Without Borders-Nepal

Engineers Without Borders USA is a non profit organization that partners with developing communities worldwide to design and implement sustainable engineering projects. These projects are implemented in order to meet basic human needs and improve the quality of life. The projects are community driven, based on full partnership with the host communities. Within each program, projects are implemented by different chapters to address the needs identified by the community. EWB-Nepal does these projects by partnering with their in-country non-profit organization, Namsaling Community Development Center (NCDC). This summer, five students are traveling to Nepal and with the help of NCDC they will distribute the funds towards various engineering projects.
