Copwatch CPU - Vanguard Of The People.

This year Copwatch Patrol Unit (CPU) wants to hit the streets in full force.  CPU wants to continue to make a presence in the community which is most affected by police brutality.  We want to get “Uniforms, Walkie Talkies, Body Cameras, And A Van” to help us keep the community and the CPU family safe.   Our CPU family is growing and we need your help.   Any contribution that could be given is appreciated.

In NYC the NYPD continues to harass, dehumanize, traumatize, criminalize, assault and kill innocent people of color. From “Stop and Frisk” to the aggressive “Broken Window” policing communities are under siege by the militarize police department. Many reforms are being put in place. A new NYPD Inspector General has been created along with the CCRB and The IAB. Even with these “Watchdog Groups” we continue to witness police brutality. It is hard to believe that one day we would be safe from those that are hire to protect and serve us. Even with video evidence like “Eric Garner” being choked by police officer “Daniel Pantaleo” and learning that even with all the evidence that existed, police officer Daniel Pantaleo was not indicted. Makes anyone believe that justice for people of color is nothing more than an illusion.  If “Ramsey Orta” did not have the courage to video record “Eric Garner” encounter with the NYPD, this would have been swept under the rug and would have never been a conversation. Video recording of encounters by the NYPD and Civilians is important. It helps us open the windows and doors of people minds to see thing for what they really are, and not for what they have been presenting themselves to be. We as Freedom Fighters must take it upon ourselves to protect our communities. Not only from the crime that exist within the community, but also from those that have been given a badge and a gun (NYPD) to protect us. Join us in making our community safe. Help us help the community. Become part of our CPU team and together one day we could end police brutality.

Copwatch Patrol Unit (CPU) monitors police while they are engaging the public through questioning, detainment, or arrest. 

CPU spend time walking the streets, observing police and witnessing/recording police interactions with citizens on camera, video-record, audio-record, and/ or paper. Copwatcher concentrates in areas where there is high police activity. CPU also advise people of their rights.

CPU goals are to discourage and attempt to stop police brutality and harassment by;

1. Educating people and communities on their rights and their responsibilities to each other. 

2. Letting police know that their actions are being observed and recorded that they may be held accountable for their actions. 

3. trying to get laws and regulations in place and enforced that reduce police brutality and repression.
