Support Sammy Strong

My name is Ipek Akcali. I've created this page to raise money to support a brave little girl who is very special to my heart - Sammy. She is wonderful, fun, courageous, loved, supported and is capable of SO much. Sammy also has been diagnosed with stage 4 Wilms tumor. My journey to support Sammy started by sending her art packages, handmade jewelry and motivational cards. Now I'm ready to take it up to a greater platform and fundraise to support her and her family through these challenging times. Here are some heart wrenching facts about childhood cancer and evidence that something needs to change: - Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children. - More than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year. - There are more than 350,000 childhood cancer survivors. - Each day, over 250 children lose their battle to cancer. - All pediatric cancers combined receive less than 4% of federal funding for cancer research.  Having lost my baby brother when I was a preschooler, I know firsthand the devastating aftermath of when a family is told their child has a life-threatening condition. So, yes: My goal is to raise $5,000.00 for Sammy. This fundraiser is created to support Sammy and her family in any costs of her treatment, transportation, medication, food, babysitting for her siblings and any other financial need that may arise. I believe there is good in the world and that this goal can be achieved. I also would like to announce that I will celebrate this achievement by shaving my head to raise awareness and donate my hair to Wigs For Kids.
