School Drive to Thrive!

Meet the wonderful organization, Boys and Girls Country—a nonprofit organization that is a home for children whose families are experiencing hard times. The kids are from all over Houston and they live on campus in cottages with trained teaching parents and attend Waller Independent School District schools. No child is ever turned away because of their family’s economic status.
This organization changes the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian environment, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. They do this in two ways – by providing a stable home environment where the children can thrive, and by emphasizing the importance of education as a tool to obtain independence. They encourage their children to dream, and support them in reaching their goals through hard work and persistence, fostering leadership, responsibility, integrity and community involvement.
Since it is the summer, The Walters Agency is holding a school supply drive so the kids at Boys and Girls Country can have all the necessary tools to have the confidence to thrive in school! We are asking our wonderful clients and friends to stop by one of our 7 locations to drop off some supplies! If you can’t make it by the office, feel free to make a monetary donation on our Go Fund Me page.
The most needed items are: Backpacks, 3 ring binders, college-ruled notebook paper, poster boards, mechanical pencils, flash drives.
One of the graduates, Amy, said in her graduation speech: “Every one of my accomplishments can be accredited to the people at Boys and Girls Country. I could not have gotten this far without the love, support, advice, financial assistance, and guidance that I have received from all of you. Every kind word of encouragement lifted me up.” Amy entered the program at age 11. Now at age 23, she recently received her Master of Science degree in Security Studies from Sam Houston State University. She is our first student to receive a post-graduate degree. Amy finished her program with a 4.0 grade point average.
