Hi, my name is Taylor and I am 7 years old. I love to sing Micheal Jackson songs, play baseball with the Charlotte Miracle League, and play games with my siblings!
My mom always says I'm her Superhero with super strength and a BIG personality. To me I'm just like any normal 1st grader.
I do normal things like play outside, kick soccer balls, and blow bubbles, the only difference is I have to have 3 devices in my brain that help keep me alive (they are called shunts).
I have had 19 brain surgeries because there is no cure for my brain disease called hydrocephalus. The shunts inside my brain that are helping to keep me alive , stop working at anytime. Mommy says we never know when I will need another brain surgery , so we keep a special hospital bag in the car.
When my head starts hurting , mommy takes me to see Dr. Pearson in Florida. He fixes my shunts and gives me new shunts when the old ones stop working.
I see a lot of doctors (Neurosurgeon, Neurologist , ENT specialist, Pulmonologist , Asthma and Allergist, Gastroenerologist , Neuro Opthalmologist,Orthopedist, Urologist, Endocrinologist)
so I miss a lot of school; but my wonderful teacher Mrs.White and all of my friends send me "get well soon" cards when I'm sick (this cheers me up)!
To keep my superman strength I go to therapy 3 times per week so I can stay strong.
My awesome friends are having a fun run for me on DEC 20, 2014 "Taylor's Superhero & Princess Fun Run" @ HAMBRIGHT SOCCER FIELDS (Behind Blythe Elementary in Huntersville , NC) starting at 9am, to help my mommy with my ongoing medical expenses.
If you're in Huntersville, Charlotte , or Near come out on DEC 20th and walk "LAPS OF LOVE" for me in your super awesome Superhero or Princess costume.
