Summer of Conservation Project

Donation protected
My name's Jemma, I'm 21 years old and self funding my way through college.
I left high school at 16 and gained a Level 4 Diploma in IT over 3 years, and worked in two different IT departments in my home city of Manchester before I was made redundant. I couldn't find a job in IT and so had to take work in call center!!! I decided I wanted to do something different with my life, and following my lifelong love for wildlife I moved to Norfolk for a Level 3 Animal Management Diploma at Easton College. After settling in I decided this was definitely the route for me, and I now plan to start a Zoology degree at University after my second year in college is finished, and volunteering work will help get me into my university of choice and give me great experience for my future career! I have started volunteering with TCV in Norfolk, but wanted to go further afield this summer and stretch myself in conservation volunteering by travelling and staying away from home for weeks at a time.

During my summer I'll be travelling to Spain, Scotland, and Ireland and here's what I'll be doing in each location!
Spain: I'll be flying out to Tenerife for 2 weeks working to monitor the pods of Dolphins in the area, doing surveys on them, their food sources, and human traffic through their water. These surveys go towards a long term report on their welfare and survival with the current state of the oceans.
Scotland: Once I've been picked up from Edinburgh by the National Trust in Scotland I'll be working on the Culzean Castle Estate doing general estate management and non-native species control, with the possibility of habitat management work for invertebrates and reptiles.
Ireland: This is the conservation trip I'm most excited for, since I'll be going to Rathlin Island with the RSPB. I've always had a love for birds ever since my childhood, so working to educate people about the birds on the island will be a real opportunity for me! While I'm on the island I'll get to learn about the different conservation efforts being made towards each species of bird there, and what I (and the public) can do to help.
To get me over to all these places I've taken on a weekend job so I can raise enough money for my transport and contribution for each project, and I'm also baking cakes for college every week towards my funds. But I need your help to raise enough money so I can work towards conserving endangered animals and their habitats, I've done my best to choose the most sensible travel options (I'll be taking a 14 hour coach back to Norfolk from Scotland to save money!) to lower the overall amount I'll need to spend so I can take part. I greatly appreciate any amounts donated towards my cause, and any excess of my goal will be donated to the RSPB, as they only asked for a £20 donation for me to take part on the Rathlin Island project, and some will also be put towards summer next year where I aim to go further than Spain over the Thailand, Madagascar, or Canada on my next big "Summer of Conservation"!

Thank you so much for your help, I will work to make as much of a difference as I can this summer, next summer, and in my future career in conservation!
