Stolen Freedom

Eight years ago Michael Twyman went to a chiropractor in hopes that his neck would feel better. Shortly after Michael collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. The doctor discharged him with migraines and that nothing more was wrong. The next day Michael had a stroke due to a burst carotid artery. What Michael thought was going to be a nice day to relieve pain turned out to be a life changing experience. Michaels left leg and left arm are paralyzed which means activities that use to come so easily to him, he now has to re learn (including walking). Unfortunately, they were going to re-mortgage their house to go to court but even with that they weren’t able to pay the excessive court fees so they were force to settle. This traumatic event has turned Michaels life completely around.

On a trip to Belgium Michael was finally able to buy a Bike specialized for him that has given his freedom and a sense of independence that allows him to return to a more active life style and re-experience a small step in his journey of being less dependent on others . This bike was a HP Velotecnik model Scorpion FS, customized to fit his needs. $15,000 later Michael was at home with the freedom and ability to go where ever he wants.

Unfortunately on January 20th a heartless thief broke into our secure underground parking area, cut the steel cable that was bolted to the cement wall and stole his bike. As individuals and a community we are all -devastated on this spineless act.  I hope we can all find it within our hearts to come together and help Michael regain some freedom and restore his faith in life. Thank you!
