Funds are currently being raised for a granite memorial to recognize Justin's impact on the lives of those he touched and to continue to remind others to "Stand for More".
UPDATE: Our first memorial at Deran Koligian Stadium was unveiled last week. Thank you, donors. We are now in the works of putting together a memorial at the other schools he coached.
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Tosha Aquino Giuffrida. Justin and I were childhood friends and graduated from San Joaquin Memorial together. I led his marrow drives for him so he could focus on his treatment. I also run his Facebook page. Justin continues to inspire me as I find little signs of him everywhere. He was the most honorable man.
Justin Garza lived a life with purpose. He lived out his passion for coaching for over 20 years, where he invested his life into his players, fellow coaches, and the Central Valley community. He coached thousands of high school football players during his time at San Joaquin Memorial, Kerman, Reedley, Sunnyside, and Central High School. Although he would eventually lose his battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma earlier this year, Justin's impact on the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
In Justin's words, "When you do something and you have a greater purpose people want to be a part of it. People want to do something that is bigger than themselves. I want to use my store to change people's lives." Justin inspired 2,200 people to join the marrow registry in just four months in an effort to save lives through the Stand for More campaign. Through his efforts, lives have, and continue to be saved.
