Sprint Away Silence

1 in 5 women is a victim of rape. It's time to take a stand. It's time to "Sprint Away Silence". Rape is an epidemic, just like cancer.  But unlike rape, no one questions you when you tell them you have Stage 4 Breast Cancer. No one ever claims you "allegedly" have Lymphoma. It's time to treat this epidemic like all the other epidemics in this country. It's time to stop the silence. It's time to support survivors. It's time to take a stand.

My best friend Courtney and I have decided to run the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon on July 19th in support of the Rape Foundation. The Rape foundation brings state of the art, comprehensive, FREE, care to rape victims and sexually abused children. Unfortunately, I know the  rape treatment center firsthand. A dear friend of mine was sexually assaulted in college.  When she told me the morning after, I frantically googled what to do. The first thing that came up was the Rape Treatment Center in Santa Monica. We still, to this day, call the the staff  there our "angels". We could not have been MORE loved, welcomed, taken care of and supported in what was most certainly the most terrifying morning of my friend's life.  Gail Abarbanel who is the founder of the Rape Treatment Center is my personal hero. A true woman warrior.  I am constantly in awe of the tremendous work she does every single hour of everyday for survivors. 

I am so lucky to have the ridiculously amazing job as "Caroline Channing" on 2 Broke Girls. It's time to take the incredible opportunities and platform the show gives me to make a difference, to help my dear friend Gail to end this epidemic and support and take care of survivors.
