Spencer’s Van Fund
My name is Spencer Leibowitz and I am a happy, outgoing 14 year old middle school student. I am like many teenagers. I like playing on my play station, going to the movies, playing baseball and football, going to my neighborhood pool and I am a big fan of NASCAR. I also have a form of Muscular Dystrophy known as Myotubular Myopathy. MTM makes my muscles weak so it’s hard for me to do many things for myself. I depend on my nurses and my parents to help me. I am on a ventilator 24/7, am wheelchair dependent and I need lots of help with daily activities.
When I was born the doctors told my parents to take me home, preserve my quality of life and that I would live no more than six months. My parents were devastated. They were also determined to take wonderful care of me and they never gave up. Over the years we have seen wonderful doctors and nurses that have helped me in numerous ways as well as and challenge me too work harder to get stronger. It has been a long battle to get to this point in my life.
The reason I decided to post on GoFundMe.com is that my parents are in need of a handicapped accessible van in order to transport me so that I can get to the movies, baseball, pool and numerous doctor and therapy appointments. Our current van is over 10 years old and is falling into disrepair. My parents and I appreciate anything you could donate. Please help us raise this money!!
Thank you,
Spencer Leibowitz
