Stem Cell Treatment for Sophie

Donation protected
Due to a placental abruption at birth, Sophie was lucky to survive but was left with Cerebral palsy as a result of oxygen starvation.

She has Athetoid Cerebral Palsy which affects her arms and legs, and has no independent mobility or speech.

However, she has astounded us and her Drs with her attitude and determination, she has made great efforts to stand, she plays with her sisters and shouts noises for her communication and shows signs of intelligence, so much so that she attends a main stream school.

Due to the remarkable efforts of Sophie so far, she has been accepted by Swiss Medica for experimental and exploratory Stem Cell Treatment as they believe she is an ideal candidate because of the progress she has shown so far, plus her determination, attitude and all round personality.

The clinic will use Sophie's own stem cells from her bone marrow, taken painlessly from her breast bone, there is a 0% chance of rejection due to the cells being Sophie's own, plus 0% chance of any complications or danger to Sophie.

The idea of the treatment is simple, stem cells are cells that can become any other cell in the body, basically they are blank cells and due to the amazing nature of the body, when introduced into the blood stream they know exactly where they are needed.

The hope is that they will stimulate growth in the area of the brain that has died due to oxygen starvation.

This is by no means a cure and previous attempts (on other candidates) have ranged from minor help to walking and talking. However we are expectant of nothing but if there is a chance it will make Sophie's life easier we have to take it.

The cost of the treatment is heavily discounted at £6450 , plus travel and accommodation and insurances etc on top of that.

We have set this page up to ask  if anyone would like to help towards the cost of the treatment as this is a genuine once in a life time opportunity for Sophie and coupled with her physiotherapy and her determination it could offer her a whole new life ahead. Any help towards the cost would be appreciated no matter how small, and it will help so much.

Her treatment starts 12th October 2019 until 17th October.

Any help will be appreciated more than words could describe, this little girl means so much to us, her family.
Her smile is contagious and her happy little soul is an absolute pleasure to know.

thank you
