Snowky's Eye Surgery

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Gladys and I am here to fund a surgery for my dog, Snowky. We went to the opthamologist and was told that Snowky needed surgery for his eyes. This is not a surprise because Snowky's eyes has been bothering him. However, the shocking part is the price! The total amount for the surgery is $4000 and we are not able to afford this amount.

The surgeon said Snowky needs a total of three procedures to be 100% well. The first one is called cherry eye repositioning. In the picture below you can see his tear gland protuding from his lower lid. This has been causing problems because the tear gland is drying out and is infected. This procedure will be $1500. The other two procedures are called nasal fold resectioning and nasal canthoplasty. We need to do this because Snokwy has an abnormal inward rotation of the eye lid where his fur is constantly touching his eye which is scarring his cornea and creating a pigment that is hindering his vision. If this procedure is not done, it will cause many problems in the future. Like permanent blindness.  These two procedures will cost $1200 and $ 1000 respectively.

Therefore, including tax, it will be around $4000 not including the eye drops Snowky will need after the surgery for life. The medication the doctor recommended was Azopt, cyclosporin, and tear gel. Azopt is to maintain the eye pressure in Snowky's eyes to prevent glaucoma which is a common disease in flat faced dogs with protruding eyes. The cyclosporin is used to reduce the pigmentation that has already developed and for tear production. Since Snowky's tear gland is already starting to dry out it is 100% functional. Thus, tear gel is also needed to lubricate the eyes. Currently, we are using Azopt and we go through a $40 bottle once every 4 weeks. So, I can imagine that the cost of Snowky's eye drops for his life time will be 100+ monthly.

I am a freash graduate and just started a full time job which doesn't pay a lot. A big part of my pay check goes towards paying off my student loans which is about $400 a month. Therefore, I do not have a lot of savings. I can only afford the cherry eye repositioning surgery. I am asking for help to cover as much of the surgery as much as possible.  A little bit can go a long way for me.

Snowky has been a great addition to our family. He's very friendly, great with people and especially children and he's been keeping my dad company ever since my mother passed away. I can't be grateful enough for Snowky and that's why I really want to do all three procedures for him.

We booked the surgery for August 21, 2015. We have until the day of to decide whether or not to go through with all three procedures.

Thank you for your support
