SYF - Make a Difference

With this “Make a Difference” fundraising campaign I am asking for your help. At Stamford Youth Foundation (SYF), a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization that operates programs to serve the youths of Stamford CT, their parents and the community at large, our goal is to continue making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children by providing every child within Stamford the opportunity to pursue a sports or cheering opportunity.

While striving to win, children learn about teamwork, self-discipline, good sportsmanship, following rules and leadership, all of which contribute to their development as productive members of society and solid citizens.

Our efforts at SYF are having an impact. We are proud of the fact that over the last several years not a single child enrolled in the program has had any issues with the authorities, and we would like to expand this blueprint and help many more children in the years to come. Providing a healthy and safe environment is an essential element where we instill a ‘can do’ attitude and provide the opportunity to learn from mistakes while we encourage each child to be the best that he or she can be. These lessons directly translate into the classroom and beyond.  

All SYF officers, coaches and directors are volunteers who spent countless hours in their efforts to support the various programs offered by SYF. Donations and grants from organizations and individuals (which are tax deductible!) help subsidize the programs and primarily fund the financial scholarships for kids that could not otherwise afford to participate. Making our programs available to all of the town’s youths is core to SYF’s mission.

SYF also relies upon Stamford’s public facilities such as parks, ball fields and schools to offer our programs. These facilities are made available to SYF and its participants at no cost (except for custodians at some locations) by the City of Stamford.

I know from firsthand experience as a leader myself in the community that you are asked to contribute to many causes. I would like to think that there is no worthier cause than helping our youths succeed.
