Billie's Medical Fees

Donation protected
On Sunday, April 12th, A Purposeful Rescue (Hilary) and I rescued Miss Billie Holiday - a ten year old rat terrier/chihuahua from South Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

Both, Hilary and I have a thing for the older and little busted senior babies at the shleter, who often get overlooked because of their maturity and awesomeness.

I took Billie home to be her official foster mama, and although she had cherry eye (prolapsed third eyelid), and some worms in her poop from spending time in the pen- she was in great spirits and I feel like she knew she was free and we rescued each other :)

On Friday, April 17th we took Billie to the vet to get her checked out and get the worm and eye issue resolved. Billie, again was in good spirits and did well at the vet and was scheduled to go back the following Friday for surgery.

That Sunday, the 19th, Billie started to act different. Lethargic, loss of appetite, threw up a little, diarrhea, and not her normal cute ratty self. Late that night I noticed blood in her urine and early the next morning it had got worse and she was literally peeing straight blood :(

So, off to the vet we went to get baby girl checked out!

Things did not get better for Miss Holiday. The hospital could not narrow down why she was urinating blood and what caused it. So she had to stay the night at the hospital to be monitored and run more tests. During her stay- she kept peeing blood- which meant she was loosing a lot of blood and that is no good for a eleven pound old dog.

This morning, Billie is still not doing well at all, and is getting a blood transfusion to hopefully save her life. We still do not know what caused this. Could have been an allergic reaction to her flea meds (Advantage), Panacur (dewormer) or something in the shelter or downtown la environment. Hopefully we will find out soon and she pulls through.

We are asking if you would kindly donate to help save Miss Billie. We all know its a risk when you rescue any dog from the shelter, especially a senior, but they deserve chances, and fuck we as humans should pull together and help them- we domesticated them!

Thank you in advance and I will keep posting updates on here, once we know whats going on.
