Siena's Medical & Funeral Expenses

On Wednesday, April 1, 2015, our sweet Siena Ly passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of Group A Strep blood infection that led to toxic/septic shock. The onset was rapid and the infection spread quickly. Siena had just turned 7 on March 20, 2015.
On Sunday, March 22nd, Siena presented with a fever and complained about pain in her leg. Hue and Anthony (Siena’s parents) took her to the doctor’s office on Monday and were told to take her to the ER immediately. They were there for 8 hours. The doctors couldn't figure out why she had pains in her leg or what was causing the fever. X-rays and an MRI did not show anything of concern. But, Siena was kept overnight for observation (Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center). By morning, the doctors found the strep bacteria. They started antibiotics immediately but even as it was being administered, she was getting sicker by the minute. Soon all of her major organs shut down and she had to have emergency heart surgery. The surgery gave her body some time to heal, but it was all too much for her to overcome.
Doctors never found the source of the infection. There are many strands of Group A Strep and it’s commonly found on your skin. Siena happened to be infected with the kind that produces toxins. For unknown reasons, her body reacted very aggressively to those toxins.
Everything happened so quickly and the loss of Siena is a shock to us all.
We ask for your continuing prayers for the Ly family at this difficult time.
We would also like to extend the opportunity to donate to the family. Donations will go toward medical and funeral expenses. The goal amount has been purposely set at $1. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
