Williams Syndrome
Williams Syndrome is a rare congenital disorder that occurs randomly and affects around one in 18,000 people in the UK. It is non-hereditary and causes distinctive facial characteristics and a wide range of learning difficulties. Infants often have delayed development and can develop physical and mental health problems, including anxiety and depression in later life. WS people tend to be talkative and excessively friendly towards adults.
Corpal
Corpal supports those affected by Disorders of the Corpus Callosum which means that the major pathway across the two hemispheres has failed to form correctly.
Aoife-Brooke (aged 9) was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome in 2019 and Evelyn (aged 1) was diagnosed with a disorder of the Corpus Callosum at birth. Each year, throughout the month of May we complete challenges and hold fundraising events to raise money and awareness for the two charities, both of which are close to our hearts. Both charities support young people and families of those whose lives are affected by Williams Syndrome and Disorders of the Corpus Callosum.
This year, we are teaming up with our friends over at Pro-Fitness Yorkshire to undertake 3 x 1 hour back-to-back advanced conditioning classes, with people of all ages and ability signed up to take part. Sessions will run from 9am and everyone is welcome to take part. Sessions will be priced at £7.50 per session, and cash will be taken on the day should you wish to attend. There will be sweet cones and a bake sale, too and spectators are welcome to join us - the more the merrier!
