Shiloh's Surgery Costs

Donation protected

My name is Christina, and I created this Go Fund Me project on behalf of one of my dearest friends and her husband. They have always been there to lend a helping hand to someone in need, never expecting anything in return. When their kitty Shiloh became unexpectedly ill, and surgery was the only answer, there was no hesitation - do whatever was necessary to save her life - regardless of the cost.

The sudden financial burden finds them struggling to make ends meet, even with all the personal sacrifices. But to them, saving Shiloh is worth any hardship they might encounter. She is not just a pet, she is family, and family is priceless.

Their love, passion, and selflessness have been so admirable, that I ask you to read the story of Shiloh, and lend a helping hand to two people who deserve it so very much.

The Story of Shiloh

My name is Angelia, and this is our 4 year old kitty Shiloh. She is one of my three loves in my life, along with my husband and my son, who is not yet born, Edward.

I am not sure where to begin, so I will tell it from the beginning. About a month ago, Shiloh caught a mouse outside. After about a day she started vomiting blood, and we took her to an emergency vet. Our regular vet was not available for two days to see her. The emergency vet gave her an antibiotic, rehydrated her, and an anti-nausea pill. She was anemic, so they also prescribed another drug for that. We thought it was her food causing the anemia, so Purina -OUT! Iams-IN!

She was OK for a small bit, but declined throughout the month. Finally, about a week and a half ago she just was not eating anymore. We were scared, and after continued delays from our regular vet, were forced to take her to the emergency vet, again. She had a fever of 105 degrees when the emergency vet initially examined her.

The emergency vet put Shiloh on ice and an IV to treat the fever, and ran tests for Kitty AIDS and Leukemia; both of which were negative, thankfully. After Shiloh's temperature was back to near normal, they sent her home with the instructions to continue treatment with our regular vet. She was still refusing to eat. We tried to make an appointment with our regular vet during business hours and called multiple times and left messages. We finally were able to contact them the next business day, and scheduled an appointment for that evening, after work.

My husband was caught in traffic and was running late to the appointment. We informed them about a half hour before our appointment time, that we would be about 15 minutes late. Our regular vet refused to see us and canceled the appointment. We decided to try to find a new vet at this point, but as most veterinary offices were now closed, it would have to wait until the following day.

Shiloh, stressed from the drive to the canceled appointment, began to decline thru the night. She was having difficulty breathing, and her ears were hot to the touch. At 11:00 PM, we were faced with a hard choice, wait until morning, or try to get her help. I broke down crying about how sick she was, and I knew that if we waited any longer, she would die.

My husband and I put Shiloh in the box again to take her to the emergency vet at ACCESS. ACCESS initially ran tests, and found fluid in her abdomen leaking from a puncture in her stomach. They needed to operate immediately. They closed the hole in her stomach, and drained as much of the fluid in her abdomen as they could. She was in recovery for the next four days. We visited Shiloh every night and she was most active and happy, when we were there. I think we all gave each other strength to carry on. I have not cried so much in my life.

Long story shorter: We maxed out the credit card, and had to apply for Care Credit, which was also maxed out. I am pregnant, and even living on Cup-O-Noodles every day would not be enough to cover the costs of the vet bills I have; just to save a kitty for doing things we encourage them to do- catch mice.

We are asking for help any help we can to cover the Care Credit costs. If you are willing to help, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. She means everything to us. Anything helps. Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
