For those of you who know my Dad, Sheldon, know what a wonderful man he is. He had a very unfortunate accident which resulted in a brain bleed and ultimately lead to him needing brain surgery. After surgery he suffered a serious stroke which has left him with no use of his right arm or leg (now confined to a wheelchair) and limited speech ability. He has been in the hospital or rehab since October and has had a few bumps along the way. He needed his gallbladder out in January and had surgery for that too which landed him in the hospital for 3 weeks. He also suffered a smaller stroke in March.
At this point in time he is unable to come home and has to stay at the facility he is in. He is continuing to work hard but at times his spirits are down and he gets very discouraged. This has been very difficult for him. He is use to being very independent and loved his job and traveling. Now he has to rely on others to help him with most daily activites.
As you can imaging this has also taken a toll on my Mom. They have been married for 32 years and this is the first time she has had to live without him home with her.
This has been a major life altering event for our family.
Along with the emotional rollercoaster this has been for the whole family there has been a pileup of medical expenses and other financial obligations related to all of his care. Even little things like bringing him home to spend the day cost about $150 for transport.
If you have it in your heart to be able to donate a little to help with Dads expenses related to his care our family will be forever greatful.
We also invite you to come visit if you are in the area. Its wonderful to see him smile when his friends stop by.
