GROWTH PROJECT

Donation protected
Tabitha's House was started in 1998, to serve the needs of low income/at risk families & individuals in Harford County. With only four paid employees and over one hundred volunteers, Tabitha’s House is committed to keeping overhead cost at a minimum, so that we can serve as many clients as possible.  Even with these efforts, we are still reaching only 16% of Harford County residents that are at poverty level or below.

How Does This Work? It is quite a unique process that involves the community coming together, to make all of this happen. Our Thrift Store is open to the public and is well stocked with Quality Items that have ALL been donated by people in the area. Our many volunteers check every item to make sure they are clean and free of holes and/or stains. They are then priced at extremely low prices, and put in the store for sale. All proceeds from our Thrift Store go right back into this Community Outreach Ministry, allowing us to assist clients with some of their most basic needs.

How Does Tabitha’s House Serve the Community? We assist clients with food, clothes, cleaning products, toiletries, household items and school supplies, at absolutely NO COST to them. They are given a clothing voucher to go into the thrift store & shop for three outfits, shoes, coats and undergarments for each person in the family.

Exactly Who Supports Tabitha’s House? People pulling together with donations and supporting our thrift store to help produce revenue, along with a few grants from generous foundations and churches each year. Because everything in our store is donated, we are able sell clothes and household items at very affordable prices, making it easier for the single mom or large families to afford Quality Items that they may not be able to afford otherwise. Repurposing Items, creating a solution outside of the box. Also, people Love to be creative and why not do it at a fraction of the cost?

So all of this sounds great so far.....right?

Yes, But With Your Help, The Impact Can Be Much Greater!  Last year we assisted over 3,000 people in the community! However, as we said before, this is just a small fraction of those in need, and our goal is to serve as many low income/at risk people as possible in Harford County.

So then what's the problem? If we are striving to increase our services to accommodate more families, we urgently need more space! We plan to purchase a 14'X30' storage facility, so that we may expand our inventory, allowing us to service a larger population. To put it simply...we are desperately running out of room and we need to build this large outside storage unit to increase inventory, which in turn, will allow us to serve more people.

Let me explain. We need more room for items that cannot go out on the sales floor due to lack of space, out of season items or they are items that we need to have on hand for our clients with special or unusual needs, such as clients who have a hard time finding clothing or shoes that fit them, or necessities for expecting mothers.

Also, since we rely on the thrift store to not only have a place for our clients to shop, but to also provide a significant percentage of our budget, we need to keep it stocked with items that the customers need/want. For example, if we have an abundance of one particular item, and we continue to get a lot of great donations of that particular thing, we don't want to have to get rid of them due to lack of space; there may soon be a time that donations of this nature are not as plentiful. We will need to rely on the items in the storage area to replenish our stock and to make sure we have something to offer to each of our clients.

We humbly ask that you please donate to this campaign, so that we may continue to grow and better serve the needs of people throughout Harford County. Most of us are blessed beyond measure! Wouldn't it feel great to know that you've made a difference right here in your very own community? The amount you can give is not important; what is important, is that you have chosen to be a part of this journey and to serve your neighbors with some of life’s most basic essentials.

We sincerely thank you for allowing us to share this story with you and for your generous donation.
